Dr. Hinz is a sports medicine board certified orthopedic surgeon. He specializes in soft tissue reconstruction, arthroscopy and arthroplasty of the shoulder, hip and knee. Dr. Hinz earned his medical degree from Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his residency in Orthopedic Surgery at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital where he was Chief Resident. Following residency, Dr. Hinz completed a Sports Medicine fellowship at The University of Massachusetts Medical School where he received specialty training in arthroscopy, ligamentous reconstruction and cartilage restoration of the shoulder, elbow, hip, knee and ankle, as well as, arthroplasty of the shoulder and knee. While attending his fellowship he assisted in team physician coverage of the Pawtucket Red Sox, Massachusetts Pirates, Worcester State University, Becker College and multiple High Schools in Central Massachusetts. Dr. Hinz has presented and created content for multiple national meetings and co-written two book chapters. He is an active member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedics, American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, Arthroscopy Association of North America and the American Osteopathic Association.

A native of Grosse Pointe Woods, attending Grosse Pointe North High School, Dr. Hinz has always had an affinity for Medicine. He enrolled in undergraduate studies at Michigan State University and was apart of the Osteopathic Medical Scholars Program providing a gateway into the College of Osteopathic Medicine. He is excited to return to the area to practice.

Dr. Hinz is accepting new patients at the St. Clair Shores and Shelby Macomb locations and looks forward to working with his patients to get them back into the game.

Dr. Hinz has staff privileges at William Beaumont Hospital Grosse Pointe, Henry Ford Macomb Hospital in Clinton Township, Michigan, as well as, Premier Surgical Center of Michigan, also in Clinton Township.
