Fellowship Trained in Foot and Ankle
Orthopedic surgeon Matthew M. Brewster, DO, brings nearly a decade of experience in orthopedic surgery and foot and ankle care to Associated Orthopedists of Detroit PC in St. Clair Shores and Shelby Township, Michigan, serving patients throughout Macomb County.
Dr. Brewster earned an undergraduate degree in physiology at Michigan State University in East Lansing, followed by a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine in 2009.
Next, Dr. Brewster completed an orthopedic surgery residency at Genesys Regional Medical Center in Grand Blanc, Michigan, earning the title of chief resident. While there, Dr. Brewster served as the team physician for the Flint Generals professional hockey team.
After completing his residency, Dr. Brewster pursued sub-specialty training -- in orthopedic foot and ankle surgery -- participating in a fellowship at Penn State University in Hershey, Pennsylvania.
Dr. Brewster specializes in the surgical and non-surgical management of general orthopedic and sports-related issues, including adult foot and ankle reconstruction, complex deformities, diabetic Charcot reconstruction, total ankle replacement surgery, bunions, and lesser toe deformities.
He also performs arthroscopy of the foot and ankle, and regularly works with active people to alleviate sports-related foot and ankle pain.
Dr. Brewster holds staff privileges at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital in Clinton Township, and William Beaumont Hospital Grosse Pointe, both in Michigan. He holds membership in the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society, American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedics, and the American Osteopathic Association.
When he isn't performing surgery or spending time with patients, Dr. Brewster serves as an associate clinical professor for Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Brewster is accepting new patients seeking orthopedic osteopathic care in the Macomb County area to Associated Orthopedists of Detroit PC.
