Board-certified orthopedic surgeon, Samer G. Saqqa, DO, brings over a decade of experience in adult spine and orthopedic spinal surgery to Associated Orthopedists of Detroit PC in St. Clair Shores and Shelby Township, Michigan, serving patients throughout Macomb County.
Dr. Saqqa was born in Quwait and raised in West Michigan and began his professional education at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, earning his bachelor's degree. After graduation, Dr. Saqqa moved to East Lansing and enrolled at Michigan State University receiving his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine. Next, he completed an internship and residency at Ascension Genesys Hospital in Grand Blanc, Michigan.
Dr. Saqqa completed his final fellowship at the Texas Back Institute in Plano, a world-renowned academic spine center led by leaders in artificial disc replacement, Dr. Richard Guyer, Dr. Scott Blumenthal, Dr.Jack Ziegler, and Dr. Isador Lieberman, a pioneer in robotic spine surgery.
During his time in Texas, Dr. Saqqa worked with patients, diagnosing and treating conditions like degenerative spinal disorders, adult and pediatric spinal deformities, and anterior and posterior surgery of the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine.
Dr. Saqqa specializes in orthopedic spine surgery, having served the Flint Generals professional hockey team. Currently, he holds staff privileges at McLaren Macomb Hospital in Mt. Clemens, William Beaumont Hospital Grosse Pointe, St. John Main and Macomb Hospitals in Detroit, and Premier Surgical Center of Michigan in Clinton Township. Dr. Saqqa is board certified by the American Osteopathic Association of Orthopedic Surgery.
Dr. Saqqa is a proud member of the North American Spine Society, American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery, American Osteopathic Association, and the American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopaedics. He welcomes adolescent and adult patients seeking orthopedic treatment and second opinions in the Macomb County area to Associated Orthopedists of Detroit PC.
